What is Vara
Vara is an experiment tool that turns a paper's methods into steps you can run, built for wet-lab scientists who make their own scientific calls. Both manage your own experiments (log, tune, reproduce) and turn a paper, an AI-drafted protocol, or an SOP into a runnable experiment in one step.
What Vara does
- Import plans from external AI: generate a plan in ChatGPT / DeepSeek / Claude in Vara's prompt format, paste it back, and parse it into an experiment in one click, no cold-start entry.
- Import protocols: upload a PDF, image, or SOP and break it into parameterized, executable steps.
- Reproduce from literature: drop in a paper; AI extracts the method and cites the source location.
- Parameter engine: change one variable (cell count / MOI / concentration) and dependent downstream steps recalculate deterministically, not by AI guessing.
- Source-confidence labels: every AI-extracted field is marked explicit / partial / inferred / missing for you to verify before running.
- Full experiment loop: plan → build → execute → record → review → iterate, with AI-assisted failure review.
- 10-discipline reproduction: content focused on wet-lab disciplines (life science, biology, chemistry).
- Clients + APIs: Web and macOS, the web app in any mobile browser or on your home screen, with MCP and API access, plus bring-your-own-key (BYOK).

About the name
The Vara on this site (Chinese name Vara研算) lives at varaos.com (formerly varaapp.site; it moved in October 2026 and old links redirect to the new address). It is a tool for wet-lab researchers to record and run experiments, available on the web and as a Mac app; on a phone you open it in the browser.
Other products and companies share the name (for example VARA, the Dubai virtual assets regulator, and Vara, a breast imaging AI company) and are not related to this site. To connect this Vara to an AI assistant, use https://varaos.com/api/mcp; in the official MCP Registry it is listed as com.varaos/vara (the older entry site.varaapp/vara still works).
