Export Checklist / PPT

Take an experiment off the screen and onto the bench, or turn it into a journal-club draft.

Checklist · How to use

  1. On any sub-experiment detail page, hit the [Export checklist] button (top right)
  2. In the dialog, check the sections to export:
    • Action summary
    • Duration
    • Procedure (with checkboxes)
    • Notes
    • Write-in spaces (on by default)
  3. Choose a format: Word (.docx) or PDF (.pdf)
  4. Click [Export] → the browser downloads it

What the printout looks like

  • Header: sub-experiment title, experiment name, version and export date, with blanks for Date / Operator / Run #
  • If parameters are linked: a table with parameter and planned value, plus an empty Actual column
  • If materials are linked: a table with the name and empty Lot / Amount columns; the planned amount and any recorded lot appear in small text under the name
  • One row per step: number, title, description, key facts (reagents / tools, volume / amount, temperature, duration, equipment), a checkbox and an Actual / notes line
  • At the end, ruled lines for Observations / Deviations / Conclusion
  • Prints fine in black and white on A4 or US Letter; a page usually holds 7 to 9 steps
  • To share the protocol without printing, untick Write-in spaces and only the content remains

Best for

  • Take it to the bench, tick steps as you go and write actual values and deviations on the paper
  • Send to lab mates for protocol review
  • Project handoff / paper supplement

One-click PPT for paper sharing

After parsing a paper, the [Export PPT] button at the top of the experiment group generates a journal-club draft. Two options:

Full version

10–12 slides, 30-minute talk

Lite version

6–8 slides, 15-minute lightning talk

It leaves figure placeholders for you: drop in your figures and you're ready to present.

Export all your account data

Go to Settings → Data → Export all my data and click [Export ZIP]. Your browser downloads one ZIP file you can keep as a full backup.

  • data.json: every record, grouped by type (experiments, sub-experiments, steps, parameters and change history, runs and results, materials, references, templates, plan items, daily notes, AI conversations, pending changes, account settings)
  • csv/: five tables for experiments, sub-experiments, runs, materials and plan items that open in Excel
  • attachments/: the original attachment files
  • papers/: the original literature, kit manual and SOP files you uploaded to your experiments. PDFs you picked when importing an experiment from a paper are not stored by Vara (only their text is sent for parsing), so they are not included
  • Attachments and paper files together are capped at 500 MB and bundled together in upload order. Files over the cap, outside links, and files that exist only on another device are listed in data.json with the reason, and you can download them from the experiment page
  • README.txt: notes in Chinese and English

It covers experiments you created (including ones moved into a team). Team experiments created by other members, deleted items, and credentials such as passwords and API keys are not included. It usually takes a few seconds to a minute or two, and you can export once every 10 minutes. If something is missing, email support@varaos.com.
